Cactus

I was itching to try out my newly delivered 50mm f1.4. So I popped it on my 5D and had a wander around my garden. This time of year (Feb) there is little to shoot, until the Daffs and Snow drops are out that is. But I found this hardy cactus that my wife had re-potted recently.

I've read a lot of critism concearning this lens, which I am dumfounded by. I'm finding it actually quite sharp wide open. Sure, it's no 85L, but it's actually a lot better than some review sites claim. Yes, the contrast is a little muted and yes the corners are softer (which works fine for my style) but considering this is an uncomplicated lens that can shoot wide open at f1.4, it's a little stunner.
